The Natural Medicine Alliance Australia (NMAA) aims at uniting natural medicine in Australia. NMAA is is not a practitioner association.
It’s a grassroots initiative by practitioners, after nationwide consultation and feedback from the natural healthcare community.
Together, by fostering partnerships between associations, practitioners, consumers of natural medicine, government and other stakeholders, we can create a vibrant and sustainable natural healthcare sector.
NMAA’s vision is:
‘That Australians have access to the best possible natural medicines sector’.
NMAA strives to strengthen the natural medicines sector by representing the interests of consumers and practitioners in the delivery of natural healthcare.
Natural medicine systems - such as Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy and Ayurveda
Biologically-based and ingestive therapies - such as Herbal medicine and Nutrition
Physical therapies - such as Remedial Massage, Myotherapy, Alexander Technique, Bowen Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Feldenkrais, Pilates
Energetic therapies - such as Acupuncture, Reiki, Flower Essences, Chakra Healing and Crystal Healing

NMAA’s vision is founded on four pillars:
The sector needs to unite so that it can become more influential and to safeguard the right of Australians to access, learn and practice natural medicine.
NMAA seeks to unite different natural modalities, practitioners and groups with one representative body.
Natural medicine is well established and has long and continuous historical use for thousands of years. NMAA seeks to preserve people’s right to choose natural medicine as part of their healthcare mix.
Natural medicine is considered low risk. Any regulation of the natural medicines sector needs to be appropriate and in proportion to this. NMAA endorses a model of regulation where under the auspices of NMAA, natural therapy associations administer arrangements, in partnership with government who provide the legislative backing.
Natural medicine has an important role in helping the community with the health problems of our era. NMAA believes an approach where natural medicine and conventional medicine work in cooperation for active prevention and holistic care.
